The Paradiso First Desk, created by renowned designer David Dos Santos, is a revolutionary addition to the world of children's furniture. Unlike traditional baby desks that focus on animal themes, the Paradiso First Desk is designed to seamlessly integrate into modern interiors, making it a versatile and stylish choice for parents and toddlers alike.
One of the key features of the Paradiso First Desk is its lightweight design. Crafted with commercial and ecological considerations in mind, the desk is easy to move and handle, allowing babies and toddlers to use it independently. Despite its lightweight appearance, the desk is incredibly strong and built to last for multiple generations.
What sets the Paradiso First Desk apart from other baby desks is its incorporation of multiple functions. The spacious table surface provides ample room for creative activities, accommodating children from 1 to 6 years old. Additionally, the desk features a large slot for storing crayons and other art supplies, as well as a water reservoir for painting.
Underneath the table surface, an extra panel serves as an easel, allowing children to make drawings or paintings while standing up. This unique feature not only encourages creativity but also enables multiple children to use the desk simultaneously, fostering collaboration and play.
Another innovative aspect of the Paradiso First Desk is its integrated iPad slot. Parents can safely place an iPad in the slot, allowing children to watch movies or use the device as a reference for their artwork. The desk's Polyprop material ensures easy cleaning, even if children decide to draw or paint directly on the table surface.
The Paradiso First Desk is produced using plastic injection molding technology, with Polyprop as the primary material. This manufacturing process ensures durability and efficiency, while the use of Polyprop makes the desk easy to clean and maintain.
With dimensions of 750mm x 600mm x 600mm, the Paradiso First Desk is designed for optimal stacking on a europallet, minimizing its carbon footprint during transportation. The absence of packaging further contributes to its eco-friendly design.
The Paradiso First Desk project began in February 2019 and concluded in January 2020 in Antwerp. The prototype of the desk was first showcased at the Spielwarenmesse in Nurnberg in March 2020.
Throughout the design process, David Dos Santos and his team conducted extensive research to ensure the desk met the needs and preferences of its target audience. The empathetic approach involved market research and collaboration with children to gather insights and refine the design.
Overcoming various creative and technical challenges, Dos Santos successfully translated the floating seat and table design into an injection-molded product. The result is a strong, lightweight desk that offers optimal stacking for efficient production and transportation, ultimately reducing its carbon footprint.
The Paradiso First Desk has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Baby, Kids, and Children's Products Design category in 2020. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit technical and creative excellence, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
